Temporary Tiling Insanity

Have I mentioned lately that Rob's a machine?  He's been spending his days tiling, tiling, and more tiling.  Too much tiling seems to make a man a bit goofy, but we all misplace a few of our marbles now and again.  In Rob's case, he's even dreaming about tiling - he woke up the other morning still fresh from a dream in which he was tiling all night long, not a bathroom but our entire bedroom, including a platform for our bed!  Thank goodness we haven't gone that overboard with the tile, but I bet that somewhere, someone has actually done that to their bedroom.

And, when I arrived on the project Friday night, Rob proudly showed me the last freshly tiled shower - it looked so awesome that it took a good few minutes for me to realize he had tiled the entire shower without including the basket weave accent tile that we had purchased.  When I pointed it out, he was so mad at himself.  Whoops, too late - the tile was set and it would have created too much work to tear it back out to work in the basket weave.  Frankly, I think it would have been too busy with the accent now that I've seen the layout sans basket weave, so it was the right mistake to make.  But, we both agree that it was a Freudian slip - he didn't do it consciously or on purpose, but his subconscious was hard at work.  He had been complaining about how picky and detailed basket weave is for grouting and using it as an accent trim was our compromise because I really wanted the entire floor tiled in marble basket weave.  A big no go.  Now I'm without any basket weave tile, but I'll survive. (There's always the house in Philly to renovate when this project is done.)

Rob's focus has been on finishing all four bathrooms - we are on a deadline to obtain our COV (Certificate of Occupancy) and they are apparently a little picky about things like running water and functioning sinks and tubs, which means all tiling has to be complete so everything else can be installed.  Here's the tiling insanity in pictures starting with the upstairs master bath.

Shower floor going in:
 Shower walls:

 Accent "nook"
Heated floor coils installed and floor tile going in:

 Grouted shower stall
 Finished floor

Running water to the jacuzzi (not using it yet):

Chandelier installed above the jacuzzi:
Progress on the install of the tub surround:
Upstairs Main Bathroom - now grouted:

Vanity and mirror installed (first one on the project!):
Downstairs master bath (not as far along).  Shower walls sans the basket weave accent:

Shower floor:

Heated floor install and floor tiling to follow.  It's enough tiling to make anyone temporarily insane.
